About

Welcome to my blog - a small space in the hollows of the internet where I can share my excitement of finding a letter in a newly bought vintage coat, my impression of a recent fashion exhibition or an article about films from the 1950s.

I am by no means a scholar writing about XXth century history, nor am I widely knowledgable in the field of garment construction; I do, however, have an immense passion for vintage clothing and fashion history and have my own share of experience, both personal and professional, within this field.

My interest in these subjects gained full momentum in 2006, after I saw an exhibition at the Polish National Museum which focused on the culture and lifestyle of icons during the inter-war period in Poland (1918 - 1939). I immediately fell in love with all the elegance, style and just the overall atmosphere and sophistication of all those movie stars! That day, I went home and decided that from now on I shall only dress according to the fashions of the 1920s. However, after spending much too long looking for a cloche hat and wool skirt, I realised that keeping my wardrobe authentic would not be as easy as it seemed. And so I remained in my jeans and turtleneck and shifted to simply learning more about those times and getting a feel for what daily life looked like then. I remember watching Youtube videos, trying to master the art of the 1920s finger-wave hairstyle. Soon, they became my window into makeup, style and book recommendations. All of my practical styling skills are self-taught with their help - so how could I now not want to share my knowledge online too, hoping that it might spark an interest in the subject or simply serve as a pleasant read during morning commutes.

I decided to set up a fashion blog in January 2012. I intended it to be a journal of my ideas and favorite fashion looks, as well as a means through which I can show my work and inform others about subjects and images that catch my eye. Unfortunately it did not take off very well (or maybe I was just a bit impatient) but nonetheless I decided to give it another try - which leads me to where I am now!

So welcome to my blog, I hope you enjoy it :)
